Liar nicked

When it became clear that someone had leaked the name of a secret agent to the press, Preznit Bush swore that he would fire anyone involved.

Scooter Libby does not require firing, because he's going to jail, but his trial exposed the complicitness of several members of the White House staff, most notably Vice Preznit Darth Vader.

So let the sacking commence!

Yeah whatever. Far from sacking anyone, Bush will of course pardon Libby. But at least the truth about one lie these people told has been brought into the light in open court. The pity is that Fitzgerald is now closing his investigation, and no further indictments, however much deserved, will not now follow. However, if Congress has the balls, there is enough for Cheney's impeachment...

If Congress has the balls! I am full of jokes this morning.

Oh God no. If you're going to start doing jokes I'm going to have to start going to Grant for informed comment. Please don't make me do it.

A few years ago I read a Penthouse interview with G Gordon Liddy. Far from being villified for his part in Watergate, he became a celebrity as a result of doing time. I shudder at the thought of Bush's henchmen turning up on celebrity shows over the next few decades.

ANd do you know the thing that makes me saddest of all about the current USA debacle? Hunter S Thompson is dead, and there will be no 'Great Shark Hunt' to come out of it.
